Insert a Module

Insert a Module - specify modules and options without going through the drawing process.

We can also add modules in an ad-hoc manner, these are items not on the drawing, or where we just want to build a kitchen without going through the drawing process. For example we are just asked to supply a set of cabinets, panels and doors according to a list, Or we want to add items which are not on the drawing, e.g some laundry cabinets, drawing is not necessary.

Cut Down 1

We do this just by right-clicking on the object selection bar at the bottom of the screen. Here a unit is added – A “cut-down” which is a non-standard carcase, where the width is varied to fill remaining space along a wall in a kitchen.

Key points –

  • We can add /delete / copy local sheets as required through the CAP functions – all this is automatically handled by CAP. This is very difficult to do otherwise, because you eventually run into limitations imposed by a customised solution or in a “maximum bill” (features and options) approach (e.g. “we will allow for maximum ten overhead unit, ten base units” )
  • We can manually create or have CAP-Suite auto-create BOM’s of any depth and complexity
  • We can build configurator models and corresponding feature sheets to handle any sort of item – and – these can be customised exactly to that item.
  • To do this with customisation requires a different program (very complex if this is integrated with order entry) for different product lines.
  • By using different combinations of feature sheets with different configuration models we can reuse our development effort for modules or assemblies in an object-oriented way
