Process Overview
Process Overview - a quick walk through the process. From the kitchen design, building the configuration from the drawing, costing and quoting, contract and procurement / production - Drawing to Contract is a four step process. From the design an accurately priced quotation can be produced in two or three minutes. re-quoting for changes of finishes and options can be done in a couple of minutes. This overview example is for a straightforward vinyl kitchen, with melamine used where appropriate. For illustration (use of local options) one of the units is changed to melamine with three different coloured drawers
Design
The modules and laid out using the design software - in this case ArtiCAD.
Configure (pattern, finish, colour ...)
The colour and finish details are entered
Automatic import of module detail from drawing

The list of modules is retrieved from the drawing
Completion of Quote

Contract

The contract is produced for acceptance by the customer
Manufacturing detail

The configuration process has built the manufacturing detail into the quotation, these details are the available for subsequent conversion to order, scheduling, procurement, production and order fulfillment
Production Order

The detail above came from this local feature, where the finish, colours and edging were overridden to produce a multicoloured three drawer unit.
Here is the drawer unit feature sheet with the three colours selected (this sheet allows for more than three colours, but the module only needs the first three. The related decision logic ignores the redundant options. A refinement could be for the decision logic to hide the redundant options when the sheet is initialised).
